Good effort for Herbalife Gran Canaria in Valencia despite the loss (86:81)

Herbalife Gran Canaria came up short in Valencia.

History wasn’t on Herbalife Gran Canaria side as the yellow team faced Valencia Basket at Fonteta where they hadn’t win a game for the last 10 years. The start wasn’t the best neither -10:2 for taronja side that became 27:14 by the end of the first quarter. However, Herbalife Gran Canaria found its pace by making some good traps in defense. McCalebb led once again the team in the offense end and the islanders got to the halftime with a 5 points disadvantage (42:37).

A good bucket from Royce O’Neale allowed Herbalife Gran Canaria to have their first lead in all night. Richard Hendrix had a good performance too, but wasn’t enough to avoid Valencia Basket to came back. Pedro Martínez team was in control during almost all game despite of Gran Canaria good effort. With 63:54 on the scoreboard Pablo Aguilar scored on of the best baskets of all season to give his teammates some hope.

Already in the last quarter Baez and Rabaseda put their team only two points down but Valencia Basket controlled the situation until the very end. Good starter for what both teams will show in a few weeks in Copa del Rey.
