The Yellow team was beaten by Iberostar Tenerife at home in a tough game.
Herbalife Gran Canaria had one of the most emotional weeks ever after lifting its first trophy ever by winning Endesa Supercup. Celebrations were in order and the team did not have the precise time to prepare on the game. Not an excuse though, as Luis Casimiro said in the press conference.
Iberostar Tenerife did not win a game in the preseason but they were ready in Gran Canaria Arena. Fran Vazquez was a key factor but Herbalife Gran Canaria found its way with the three pointers. O’Neale hit two daggers and McCalebb to give Gran Canaria the lead. It was a close 20-17 after the first.
Iberostar Tenerife kept playing a good defense and stopped Gran Canaria offense. At halftime Vidorreta’s team was up by one point. In the third quarter, Herbalife Gran Canaria kept struggling in both sides of the court and a three from Javier Beiran put Tenerife up by 7, 57:64.
It wasn’t the best day for Herbalife Gran Canaria. The Yellow team offered the Supercup to the fans but could not praise them with a W.
