Herbalife Gran Canaria found a floor general to lead the team this season in point guard Bo McCalebb, a former two-time All-EuroLeague selection and the 2012 Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy winner.
McCalebb (1.83 meters, 30 years old) arrives from French club Limoges CSP, for whom he averaged 12 points and 2.9 assists in eight EuroCup games last season. He was also worth 11.5 points and 3.3 assists in the French League. That was his first EuroCup campaign spare a single game played for FC Bayern Munich the season before. McCalebb is expected to join the team on Friday.
Gran Canaria marks McCalebb’s first club in Spain. After making his professional debut with Mersin Buyuksehir Belediyesi of Turkey in the 2008-09 season, McCalebb burst onto the EuroLeague scene with Partizan Belgrade, which he led to the 2010 EuroLeague Final Four and Serbian League, Serbian Cup and Adriatic League titles. His next stop was Montepaschi Siena in Italy, where in two seasons he made another Final Four and won back-to-back Italian League, Italian Cup and Italian Supercup titles. McCalebb played for Fenerbahce Istanbul in Turkey between 2012 and 2014 and lifted one Turkish Cup and one Turkish League title. He has since played for Bayern and Limoges. McCalebb was also a member of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia national team and helped them reach EuroBasket 2011 semifinals.
